Hey Journey Group!! This weekend we had an amazing workshop with the combined Musical Theater, Children’s Theater and Dance arts experiences. The workshop was all about movement. It all started simply. All we had to do was walk across the room to the beat of a song. Seems simple enough, right? Well, I was still really nervous. I’m just not one to put myself out there easily and this was the perfect example of that. I know I can be myself in PFO, but it can all still be a bit intimidating at times. Anyway, as the workshop progressed, we started adding in more complex movement and dance steps. I started to loosen up. For the grand finale, we learned part of a piece from Chorus Line. Everyone was spread out around the room in lines, dancing along to the song. Suddenly, I found myself just going for it and having so much fun. I realized that I was so busy thinking about all that I could do wrong that I wasn’t allowing myself to have a good time. Once I pushed myself to just let go, it was amazing. I even stood at the front of the room a couple of times(!!!), which is completely out of my comfort zone. In the end, I am so proud of myself for just opening up to the new experience and putting myself out there, something I never would have done before PFO.
