This past weekend, I went to the Playing for Others buddy event at ImaginOn! My buddy partner Louisa couldn’t make it, but I got to spend tons of time with my buddy Yasmin. Each time I see her, I grow even more and more amazed by her grace, curiosity, interst, and open mindedness. She is such a beautiful young woman and I am so so grateful to have her as my buddy. We started off playing games on the interactive computers, where we drew pictures and even wrote a letter to Louisa telling her how much we missed her. We wandered around and looked at all the artwork and sculptures and even spent some time hanging out with the other buddies. Lastly, we sat down to read some books. I was worried that Yasmin would lose interest during some of the longer stories, but she stayed so engaged and enthusiastic through out seven books. It really made me feel like I was doing a great job as a buddy partner, and I realized how grateful I am for her. Yasmin, Louisa and I work like a family. We all help each other out and build each other up. I can’t explain how amazing it is to have both of these friends in my life, and I can’t wait for next time.
