We are halfway through the PFO year and I wanted to share about the journey so far, what I’ve learned, and how PFO has impacted me. This is my second year in PFO, and it really has been transformational. I have made so many more connections and really expanded my comfort zone so far this year. Last year, I did the Visual Art Experience, which was something that I really, really loved and had so much fun in, but it was also something that I felt really comfortable with. This year, I told Jen that I wanted to do the Dance Experience, which is something that I have never tried. Before the PFO year started, I was really nervous about doing dance, but now that we have done all of our workshops and are about to start rehearsals for HeARTbeat, I am so excited! I am not really a person to normally perform something in front of other people, so being in dance is a huge growing experience. Committee meetings for this year have ended, but I had such a great experience being on Cookbook. Cookbook’s advisers and co-chairs were so fantastic, and our group really bonded as a committee (especially with group costumes!). Lastly, the Buddy Program, as usual, is amazing, and probably my favorite part of PFO. The relationship I’ve developed with my buddy is so genuine, and Brian’s smile/laugh can literally light up a room. Every time there’s a buddy event, all of the PFO teens’ passion is really ignited, and I love seeing all the buddy trios interacting together. We have already done so many stellar things this year, and I can’t wait to see what else we accomplish!
