“We are halfway through the PFO year and I wanted to share about the journey so far, what I’ve learned, and how PFO has impacted me. This is my second year in PFO, and my first year serving as a leadership teen. I am chair of the Cookbook Committee, which entails leading a group of 13 teens over 8 weeks to create the 2nd edition of our PFO cookbook. I’ve worked alongside my amazing co-chair, Anna H., with the guidance of my 2 adult advisors, Alfonzo and Anna.

Committee meetings have just come to a close and I could not be more grateful for Cookbook and the tight-knit community we have formed! Before this experience, I had never thought of myself as a leader. However, now, for the first time in my life, I’ve claimed myself to be one and truly know what that means. As crucial as communication skills and empowering others have been to leading, I have found that it  has been even more important to live in who I say I am during the ordinary, everyday moments. My most astounding growth inside of PFO, has occurred when I’ve consistently been growing outside of PFO. It can be tough some days when I don’t get to physically be with my PFO family. However, when I’ve made the choice to reject self-limiting thoughts during these challenging moments and remain in gratitude, I have chosen leadership.  I have chosen to be in alignment with who I say I am. I’ve found that in order to authentically become the leader of others, I’ve first have had to become the leader of myself. I am incredibly grateful for the many ways PFO has impacted me and I’m so excited to continue this transformation and create the second half of my year! Thank you for supporting and believing in me.”
