What was your favorite event?
I loved playing dress up with my buddy Kaitlin from the Metro School year- I think it was an art event, and there was a pottery wheel as well! I also loved doing outside activities with my buddies, like going to the mall with Kai, who was a part of Mitey Riders, or grabbing ice cream with Kaitlin and my buddy partner, Allison Whitmeyer!

What did you learn in PFO that still impacts you today?
So many things! The two that really stand out are living with an accepting attitude, and the value of hard work. I still walk into a room with an open mind, as PFO taught me to do so well. I also can’t stress how much working unpaid or volunteering is helpful in college- I started an unpaid internship at Element-360 and even though it was hard to work two jobs and take 18 hours, I was offered a part-time position and may be staying on after I graduate. If I hadn’t been involved in PFO and taken on leadership roles, I would have never realized how many doors volunteerism can open in “the real world.”

What are you passionate about now?
I still love to volunteer, although I don’t have as much time for it. I’ve both worked and volunteered with various fundraising campaigns at UNC Asheville, and it’s opened my eyes to how much private donations make an impact in providing an affordable education for state university students. This year I’ll serve as the communications director of our Senior Class Board. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend Ross, cooking (I’m on a gazpacho kick right now), watching old movies, hiking in the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, and reading.
